That's AllState's stand. Mine too. However, that didn't stop me from checking my overall seniority number.
If you input your seniority number into Fastbid and then download the "bid awards" after they come out you can see all the lines you could have held at that seniority. Good for reviewing your bidding strategy.
Also your seniority number does come into play at times. It shows you where you are in the overall pilot force. You are correct that what individuals bid and where you are in your seat is more relevant. I found my number useful to help determine where I might end up in my seat as the DC-10 and 727 fleets downsize and pilots come over to my "seat list." Another use would be for furloughs/recalls which I hope we never have to exercise.
