Yes, it's important. But don't assume that everyone will avail themselves of the five additional years, or that someone would be forced to remain a first officer for those 5 years, because that is not a fact, but fiction. There will be company growth, additional jets, additional domiciles, additional routes, etc, etc, offering additional upgrades. But you already know that. I really do understand your frustration, but this age change thing had to start somewhere. A lot of guys who went to the back seat, myself included, did so, not with the expectation of being able to return to their former seat, but to just continue working and flying. I know that doesn't mean much to you, but again, this thing had to start somewhere/some time.

Why?
Why did it have to start at all? If it has been the law that we all had to live with and we were ALL hired under why does it have to change? We all knew the rules and we agreed to play nice. No one has expalined that to me.....

Remember, this seniority number takes into account all those that are still on the seniority list, including S/Os. It does include the retreads, short term disability pilots, or long term disability pilots and there are quite a few guys out on disability.

That's one of the functions of APC, right? We wouldn't be here if it wasn't a little fun.
(Yeah, another reason is to vent (mostly anonymously), and that's therapeutic in a sense, but wouldn't it be nice to have that in a different thread, and just leave this one for a little fun?)
Did anybody else catch the spelling of "Senority"? I'm wondering if it's missing an "i" (Seniority) or an "~" (Señority). One of those things that makes you go hmmmmm.

How do you guys know how many numbers you moved up? Did you actually know what number you were last year? Personally, I pay no attention to that stuff, as it doesn't play into anything of significance. Guys are still retiring and other guys are leaving due to medical issues. As well, a few continue to get themselves fired each year. And a lot of guys reaching age 60 are electing to take a FE seat, with the hopes of their being able to get back to their window seat if the rule/law changes. With all these things going on, could someone please explain to me why it's important to know your seniority number. The one thing that I think is important, is knowing where you are on your aircraft seat list. That's the thing that effects my working life at FedEx, not my overall seniority number.
