Quote: Hi everyone,

I just went through the first part a somewhat new and little-known pathway to F/O at Frontier.

I spent three weeks at ATP Jets in Dallas, TX with five other new hires:

- We completed at-home ground school ahead of time;
- Attended and finished the ATP/CTP in Dallas;
- Completed the one-week (ish) A320 Type course and got our ATP Certs with A320 Type (Airbus specific training, not Frontier);
- Finished with four days of Frontier (F9) familiarization and flows training

Next up: we will be starting normal ground class this month with all of this amazing insight and a good head start on our knowledge.

It was incredibly challenging, humbling, and life-changing at the same time. No hyperbole. However, had I known about the course what I know now, the six of us would've been a little less stressed during the process. I'd like to help by answering any questions you have.

If you have been hired through the Cadet Program, Military Transition, or other Frontier (F9) pathway...

Ask away!

Congrats on completing the program!
I have a few questions, just PMed you.
Thanks!

Is there a point in studying limits and flows before starting class? I don’t have a set class date yet, was told a couple of months.

I would, absolutely.

Maybe wait until you have a class date first, but why the heck not?

They say you don’t need to know it on day one, and that’s true to a degree. You won’t be tested on it as soon as you walk in the door. The curriculum is designed to spoonfeed pilots.

However, I recommend you memorize whatever information they gave you ahead of class. Even if you have a couple months, once you have it down it’s easy to keep it fresh with a short weekly study session. Plus, being familiar with limitations and flows before you get there will free you up to study other subjects, and the less overwhelmed you are by the material, the better.

I agree , but how will you get the information? I’m pretty sure you get the iPad the first day of Indoc so you won’t have access to it?

A bulk of the info they sent to us, only a couple weeks prior to class, was useless. Flows were useful. The slides of callouts was nice to see, but I still think it’s not really laid out in a convenient way. Limits was useless. Dozens of pages, unclear what was actually a memory item. Bold and italicized? Good luck finding that in the sea of tables and text. Just a copy/paste of VOL2. Thankfully there aren’t many memory items, and the training study guide on the iPad lays it out real nice. Only a handful of QRH procedures to memorize, and not many actual limitations either.

Getting ahead in the oral though…that’s what I found the most challenging.

Because they will probably change before he gets here.

Congratulations! Few questions:
-Is the hotel provided during this course?
-Are you receiving salary during this course? Or once you start INDOC with Frontier?
-You said you have 1 week ish A320 course which ends up with ATP checkride? Is it actually a checkride? How well are you prepared for that? One week doesn't seem to be a lot before your checkride... How many sim sessions is that?

Thanks!

I know some people that might want to use this path. What kind of times do you have? (TT, multi, any turbine?)
