allows monitoring 3 a/c at once? That means three times the pay, right? And you won’t have to cross any time zones. Sounds like a win.

Serious questions.

Who pulls circuit breakers on equipment that overheat, spark or catch fire in flight?

Who flies the aircraft when the communication systems are hacked, experience a denial of servive or experience interferrence from weather, storms, space etc.etc.?

Already we are seeing GPS spoofing as a growing threat. Even with pilots in the cockpit, how does Nautilus overcome a GPS spoof which attacks, degrades or down right fails the navigational system?

The circuit breaker does that, my friend. That’s how circuit breakers work.

I have been shouting from the rooftops that pilotless aircraft was coming and got nothing but "It wil never happen in my lifetime" comments. IT is coming much much faster than anyone thought and here it is. Right the unions is in contract negotiations after the last TA was denied. The company is back working with the union but you can bet they have one eye on this. Maybe this will not make it to passenger operations but I would not bet on it. I am out of the game, too old, and do not fly unless I have no alternative so it will not affect me.
One of my good friends son is in the Air Force flying drones in the Middle East from his desk in the U.S. The technology is here, it is just a matter of refining it for commercial operation.

So easy to predict whats going to happen when it doesn't matter what actually happens. Flying unmanned drones is a long way from pilotless planes. And automating a commerical airliner hardly increases efficiency, the big reason for automtion. Labor costs are a small part of airlilne operations. But hey, stay away from flying while you are shouting from the rooftops.

No, they DO NOT open when something smokes, sparks, catches fire. They MAY open. Often times they do not. I've had two inflight fires. One had multiple circuit breakers open, still had a fire. And during the other incident, the circuit breakers involved did not open and the situation required our intervention.

There's so many situations in which having a pilot onboard can prevent or preempt many emergencies. If we leap into using drones, we are accepting a significant decrease in safety. The military's safety record with them is damning.

Ask. your friend's son how many drones the USAF has crashed. Hundreds of large drones have crashed. Hundreds. Over four hundred the last time I looked.

Are pilotless airplanes or remotely piloted airplanes coming? Yes. But there is NO WAY the public or the regulators are going to accept a safety record like that.

Are those driverless cars working out well?
