good point. the second i meet the mins i am starting to apply. i am not going to be one of those "i am just going to build more time to be more competitive." if you meet the mins why not just apply. worst thing that can happen is that they won’t call back

Quote: Good way to think about it but remember most of those who have 10+ years experience are comfortable with their seniority/pay/QOL, older and have no desire to start over. From my experience that’s probable around 50% of the regional CA’s.
Maybe at SKW...I'd bet most other places the number is much lower.

True, most CA's at SKW seriously hesitate before they leave say something like, "I don’t want to end up like those guys who left “Love” (now SWA) or FedEx in the 80’s." There will always be those who disagree but SKW is a great place to spend your career. Most all feel that SKW will be a major player for decades to come, eventually & successfully standing alone.

the worst thing that can happen is that you get laid off due to some snafu and will be on the street with little or no PIC. this happened to some old roommates that went to TWA. I'm glad I didn't listen and follow them. it has not been that pretty for them.

Yeah, I know some people that have gone to CAL or others w/little or no PIC turbine. Not saying a bad idea, b/c things are looking up, however I'm considering getting my 1000pic turbine before applying anywhere, just in case. What do you guys think about that?

You're kidding right? "Feeder" for now but “Stand Alone” with true code share (like Air Tran & Frontier, United & US Airways, Foreign and US carriers) down the road. Mark my words, SKW will start making the moves by the early teens; actually they already are gearing up if you look closely. Remember that SKW tried to by Alaska/Horizon once and they have enough money to buy almost any Major/National.

You can ramble on about United and DAL contracts; there are ways around them that keep SKW from breaching.

I think that's "Covering Your Ass," and I recommend it to everyone. But you will be losing several hundred seniority numbers, possible 700-1000 (2-3 years to build the time), which could be to difference between keeping your job or being furloughed (baring Chapter 7).

Although i don't even have enough hours for a regional yet, well except PSA and Trans States...
It depends on what information you provide on the EEOC section of the app.

IMHO, VERY wise move. I'd still apply wherever you're qualified, but still shoot for that 1000PIC in the meantime. Should any given airline take a dive, that time will serve you well in other avenues of aviation and aid in meeting insurance requirements if you're forced to fly corporate for a while after being furloughed (like I was). I suppose my point is, it could help you score more $$$ when you'd really need it if you're forced to get a job where salary is commensurate with experience (i.e. not 121).
