Gotcha on the sic part

I saw on a few ATR job postings (both CA and FO) that their is a new schedule (3 weeks on, 1 week off). When did MAC announce this? Would pilots still have weekends off or would they be on call during that time period when they're on their three weeks on?

It has been 3 on and 1 one off since before I have been here.



You will generally get depending on where you are based, whether you are assigned a run or are a floater, 3 days off per weekend. BUT Travel, if you don't live where you are sent for the week, comes out of your days off. SO, in essence, 1 day off per weekend. That is FAR 121 supplemental minimum... 24 hours off in 7 days. Having said that there are problems in crew scheduling sometimes not giving you that 24 off. BEWARE! I feel it is an honest mistake on their parts as they are inexperienced and under the gun (no one in upper level management has been at MAC more than 2 years except the Chief Pilot).


The pilot shortage that we all hoped for HAS greatly improved the pay situation at MAC, but QOL has gone to h***. Pilots were given another raise weighted this time to the senior end of the pay scale, (previous have favored new hires in order to attract new pilots) FO's were ignored, 208 captains got something but I am not up on that. Currently we have generous incentives to work your week off and some do. But many don't as spouses don't want to see there partners gone ALL the time.



MAC used to be a wonderful place to work, but lately it seems not so much. Very sad for those of us who remember the old days. (SS, MS, and TH days)

Whats the latest on the floater part time position with MAC?

But there are no constants in aviation, other than gravity. Sounds like an opportunity to make more money until it swings back the other way, and it will.

From the MAC recruiter:


"We no longer are hiring floater pilots or part time. We are keeping the current floaters we have but not adding more. All new hires have to accept a base domicile".

What kind of flight time does an applicant need to have to be competitive at MAC?

True... it WILL swing the other way, simply a matter of time.



I personally have only worked 2 of my weeks off under the "Incentive Pay" program as I was busy with construction of a new home. Many of my coworkers have taken full advantage and are reaping the benefits. I am not driven by the money as much as some as my wife makes good money as an aviation professional as well. (yes, lucky me).

I am not sure but I think minimums under FAR 121 would get a foot in the door for an ATR SIC interview. For a 208 captain you would need a some PIC turbine experience. Before the pilot shortage 2000 hours PIC was about minimum, not sure now. We seem to be hiring a lot of older folks these days for the Caravan that are looking to work past 65.

Any idea how to apply? I cannot seem to find any pilot postings on their website................
