This is not from experience, but many have suggested these numbers in the past. NJA you have a base salary. We are paid per diem at 40 dollars and some change a day. If on 7&7 you are working 14 days a month, 12 months a year. Your first and last days are not 24 days, hopefully, so use 13 days a month.
13 x 12 = 156 days
156 x $40 = $6240
You also get paid overtime, and there are several different types of overtime. You get paid extra for extended trips and working holidays. The grey beards say take 10% of your base salary to come up with this number. For a 1st year FO that is $4000 and some change.
Add the two and you get close to $11K additional to your $44K (if you are reserve the entire year). Bid 7&7 and your base is less. Work every holiday make more.
The only cost at NJA is union dues which is a percent of your base pay. Medical, dental and life is paid by the company. You pay co-pays and deductibles. Your 401k contributions and supplemental life are up to you. Your taxes are up to the Feds and your state.
BTW, there are several other threads that have break outs of peoples' pay. 50-60, closer to 50 probably, seems to be the norm for year one. As an FO, the rate increases may not even match inflation.
