Quote: Nope, 4 weeks is a lot longer than usual. You should receive a pool or rejection letter within about 10 days or so. Give em a ring and see if someone dropped the ball, 4 weeks is too long to be on the hook.
I waited five weeks, then to the pool for 2 months before class.

Off the subject, but for the military folks...is it standard military procedure for both pilots to have their hands on the yoke during takeoff and landing.

I can almost understand a check airman doing it with a new student, but watching an F/O with his hands on the yoke during the Capt's leg doesn't seem like a UPS procedure and the FOM specifically states...one person on the control at any one time.

Just curious, if I'm missing something. Or, should I be flying the plane with Capt on the T/Os and landing ????

Sorry for the detour...PM me with an answer is fine.

Confused newhire,

FF

Not in my 1800 hours of military aviation was it normal.

Hey FLIFAST,

Why the question? Did someone give you a hard time for not having your hands riding yoke while the captain was flying?

Huh? Are you saying someone expects you to keep your hands on the yoke while he/she flies? That's the first I've heard. Sometimes the non-flying pilot will put his/her hand on the yoke to key the mike but I prefer to use the intercom button to keep my hands away from the yoke when I'm the non-flying pilot. Yeah, not sure what that's all about...

Hey FF,

If you would stop making your Captains nervous & scared, they will probably not back you up as much on the control wheel ...

It worked for me ...

Hey CC !!! No wonder they deported me to ANC !!!

Thanks guys for the answers. I usually fly as the IRO and observe a lot from the Food Critic's seat.

Ok, back to the original thread...what was it again ????
