Anyone know of good flying oppritunities in Australia? Hear there is a massive pilot shortage(in smaller operations) there and they are activily recruiting pilots all over the world! Seeing as am canadian it would be very easy for me to get residency in Australia

Sorry mate. But being Canadian (Me too) doesn't give you any leg up when trying for Australian citizenship. You could get a working visa if the company will be your sponsor, but you cannot leave that company. If you do you lose the visa. It's pretty hard down here.

if you can get a visa and get on with a company, while working down there can you get the ball rolling to establish citizenshiip. putting in a few years at a smaller carrier while spending the time and money won't get you citizenship?

mc, I'm not sure to be honest. Marriage to an Aussie is all I'm familiar with. I do know of pilots that came to Australia in the 60's that got citizenship. But it took 10 years. I don't know how it works now.
Cheers.

You can immigrate to Australia. Many people from South Africa and Zimbabwe are doing that as they can't return to the disaster that those countries have become. A few years ago I looked into it just to see. Immigration goes on a point system. At the time I looked into it being a professional pilot got you 5 points. You had to convert to at least an Australian CPL though. You could also buy points or invest money to get points.

Check out the Australian immigration info on their government website. It was pretty clear when I looked at it.

There is a West Australian Dash8 and Brasilia operator that is sponsoring pilots with endorsements from all part of the world. Organising and paying all licence transfer fees, work visa costs and providing some removal assistance as well for those that want to work and live in Oz.

I had asked a question on pprune about the Royal Flying Doctor Service, as I'm wanting to go down towards that path. They like King Air/ turbine time, with about 3,000 hrs TT. The RFDS will sponsor for a permanent visa at the end of the 1 year temporary visa (also the probationary year). Not sure on what's required as far as conversion of licenses or to establish permanent residency. This is the info that was PM to me on there. They have no radar vectoring for approaches in the outback, NDBs are still being used, and it's mostly solo PIC night flying.
