I did not know that, should be good news to the junior folks.

That said, I've flown with PC and I believe he owns several aviation businesses? He could probably stash her at one of them to ride out a period of unemployment.

He owns an airpark community in Hernando area. Others own the lots, he owns the airstrip.

Trust me furlough is the furthest part of the companies thought process if we hold strong to our CBA. We fought hard for a "o.k" contract (I was a no vote...then again I thought we deserved more than the company would have ever given).

Am I the only one who realizes this?

Profitable airlines do NOT furlough.

I've been furloughed before (FedEx is airline #5 for me), and I can honestly tell you a furlough is something very very closely related to huge financial troubles, such as not being able to pay the bills. Bankruptcy, in other words.

Once FedEx has posted financial losses for the last 4 quarters, and rumors of Chapter 11 are running rampant, this talk of furloughs can resume.

Does FedEx want to be one the first profitable airline to furlough pilots? (someone please point out to me other airlines, if any, that have furloughed pilots while their financial statements were in black ink rather than red)

UPS threatened it in 2003...some guys took early retirements and it was cancelled.

Most of our over 60 guys are handling this with class and dignity. Some, however, are gloating publically and enjoying their windfall. I don't see anyone, however, diving on a sword and retiring early based on PC's letter.

My goal is just to not to be the poor slob who dies wanking to porn in a hotel room all by himself... Seems to be the model a few have used to exit.

I want to leave with my health, my pride, and enough time and money left to chase my other dreams.
