Online Job Applications

Subscribe
Hello all,

I have applied for Fed Ex and UPS via their online process and have been trying to pull one of my applications off and can't figure out how to do it.

I had applied for both the management pilot and line pilot positions at both FedEx and UPS, but after talking with an 18-year pilot from FedEx, it sounds like I need to pull my application for the management pilot (sim operator) position there; he told me that if I get stuck in the sim operator track that the line pilot hires would progress much faster both in salary and crew position than I would (true or false?)

Does anyone have any gouge on the UPS management pilot position; is it the same situation in UPS or is the sim operator gig there better than at Fed Ex?

I'm new to all this, I'm an Air Force C-17 instructor and my retirement date is the 31st of July. If anyone has any tips or hints on what I should be doing, please let me know, all comments are welcome. I have been searching the Web for any info, if anyone knows a good source for me to get smart on civilian flying, please send it my way.

Thanks in advance guys, hope to hear from you soon.

Dave,
do your homework on this forum re: UPS mgt pilots, you may have second thoughts about that app
Regarding Fedex, again do a little reading, I'll give you the short version, assuming your "new" to looking at Fedex. If you got at least one preferably two or three friends at Fedex carrying your app and doing what they need to do than your earlier question has merit. Fedex is in the mist of a very large hiring phase (the good news) the bad, everyone and his sister is trying to get in. If you don't have an internal friend than the sim job is an excellent way to circumnavigate the "good ol boy" network most pilots use to get in. Yes, you will lose a couple years on the list, but you will be in. I can't speak for UPS, but I understand recommendations are also a must (for line apps not mgt positons; some UPS guy correct me if I'm wrong).
Good luck and if you have further questions ask away.

Thanks for the words, dc. I've talked with a few employees from both UPS and FedEx and I've come to the conclusion that I need to pull the sim instructor/mgmt pilot apps. I still haven't figured out how to do that online, do I need to call the HR offices directly to do it?

I'd hate to get called for an interview and turn it down because it was for the job I didn't want. Any help is appreciated.

No answer for this one, that's admin stuff. If you got your internal friends than I think you're going the right way, if not, your app will sit in the pile and rot.
