Carryover DOES cause a paycut for the enitre crewforce. It is not accounted for in BLG. Hence it is not reflected into the Reserve Day pay. Also, if it was accounted for in BLG it would force the company to adjust (increase the BLG) all the lines to keep them within the contractural spread of min vs max line. So IT MOST DEFINITELY DOES CAUSE A PAYCUT for the entire crewforce.
For example.
LAX F/O: Avg BLG 69:51. There are 50 lines with total carryover of 572+45. Not counting secondary or reserve lines. But just looking at the lines. If they accounted it into BLG that would rasie the AVg BLG to over 80, or keeping the same BLG it would force them to create 8 more lines (ie the necessity for more pilots).
I realize the necessity for carryover in international flying. However there are numeroues lines above 40 hours and three above 60 hours. That is excessive.
