Quote: There's one added factor with not commuting. The stress level goes down significantly. I commuted for 18 years with three different carries before I bid to live in my domicile. I do very little deviating from scheduled paxes and it's amazing how much I don't care if the pax doesn't go. And simply driving to work is awfully nice.
Can't argue with that...................except driving to work in might be nice Memphis isn't simple

My take is, living in domicile is the best for all the reasons stated above. more days at home, no stress commuting, etc. However, if the wife and family have reasons to live elsewhere, keeping them happy is important to keeping your marriage intack. The wife is the one spending everyday in MEM/ANC/SDF or whereever. I commute, my wife owns her own business and her family & friends all live near by. That means alot to her when Im 7,000 miles away. So there is trade offs. Besides, nothing is set in stone. try living in domicile and if the local is not to your likeing, move.

Boxhauler is absolutely correct. It is the genius behind our industry. The options are endless. I chose to live in domicile and bid reserve. Plus it helps my wife is from here and so is her family. Looking to start a my own business with all the time off I have.

Cheers
