Quote: I "heard" as an FO here you never really get to fly...true or no?

A friend of mine has been flying the line for Avantair since late May and has been flying alternate legs just like the airlines. His pay is scheduled to be just around $38K for the first year. Not bad compared to being furloughed from the airlines and flying brand new Avanti IIs.

Another benifit is that the overtime pay for FO is about $300/day. Plus you keep all your airline miles and hotel points...etc.

Oh yeah 7/On 7/Off.

True minimums are 2500 TT 1000 MEL (perf 1000 turbine, and PIC). True, times are all over the place because of people's background. Airline guys have more time than the corporate. But I dont think 5000 TT is accurate for the Competitive times. Just depends on your background and how you do on the interview. Looks like still hiring around 8-10 per class, and at least one class per month sometimes 2. I would say about 50 new hires in last 6 months.

two desparate? ....nah, that can't be right...

too desparate? ....nah, is "too" even a word?

I know, to desparate? ...yeah, that has to be right!

PEOPLE! I'm not a spelling Nazi. Really I'm not. But this damn to, too, two thing is KILLING me. Why is it hard? If you misspell bureaucrat, fine. We're all human. But to, too, and two is EASY. It takes no effort. PAHLEEZ try a little harder.

And White Rabbit, I wouldn't just "show up" at HQ. I know how it sounds good in your head like it's gonna show initiative or something, but play it through. You show up a a guard shack. The guy won't let you through cause you don't have a badge. You tell some rent-a-cop that you're here looking for a pilot job. He calls his contact number to the main office and they tell him they never heard of you. He tells you that you can't get by his gate and you have to make a U-turn and get off airport property.

Mean while the fact that you just "showed up" circulates from the main office to the people that would care (pilot recruiting) and you now look like a schmuck. Your file gets pulled and marked. Put back without a thought and now no matter what your credentials are you will never ever get hired.

Is that what you really want to do?

The P180 is an amazing aircraft and is faster than some of the business jets out there. And there is NOTHING that touches the fuel economy....just over 5.5 nm per gallon.

I can still remember seeing one at my home town airshow back in 1991. It looked like something from another planet back then, and is still just as amazing today.
