Any one know if anything is set in stone for the changes at horizon. Seems different on a month to month basis. Have heard they are getting rid of the RJs then they are going to be used on the old md-80 routes for alaska. Then heard that the rj guys are going to dash 8 q400 then the dredded work furlough some of them. has any one heard a final decision from horizon

The RJ should be phased out later in 09, but a lot can happen in one year. RJ pilots and Q200 pilot will become one in the Q400 and people who have low seniority are bye bye for awhile. I'm curious if Horizion furlough will go to Alaska Airlines?? Who knows.

WE can't sell the RJ and now they are going to postpone receiving the Q400 unitl we can sell the RJs. Last furlough number was 69 but there are a bunch of people leaving and the CP office said that the first 400 are the only firm ones. They are training in the 400 and RJ (for 200 captain down grades). 2 RJs are getting parked in the fall and that will make the fleet count of 55 after the 200 are gone. Other than that just more of the same.

Did they park the crj over at moses lake? Would have make sense, since there are still some Fokker's over there.

No it wouldn't. They are leasing all but two, I believe. Wouldn't make sense to park something you're still paying for.

It does if it cost you more to operate than to park; just look at the history of the airlines, especially just after 9/11. I don't know Horizontals BEP so I was just making a blanket statement.

I don't believe they are because no one is, but does anyone know for sure if they're hiring or accepting resumes?

True. But I really doubt it would cost them more to operate than to park. Load factors are really high across the board right now.

Grahamlax, no we are not hiring at all right now. The only classes scheduled for the remainder of the year are differences classes. I was told by the Seattle CP that we could be hiring again early next year. Rumor going around right now is the first round of 40 furloughs is pretty definate and everything after that is up in the air. Most think the furloughs will be a very short duration. But, this is nothing more than opinions so take it for what it's worth.

Up untill a few years ago, Horizon was still maintaining the Fokkers in Moses Lake. Then they went to a company in South Affrica (atl east the ones with engines). Great place to store them, dry desert.

QX furloughs going to Alaska? Not bloody likely, especially since Alaska management just informed ALPA they plan on furloughing 165 current Alaska pilots.
