is there a specific weight that would force u to turnin your medical?

In the US, not that I know of. But I suspect morbidly obese might be grounds for denial on general health principles.

Really heavy folks are unlikely to be able to hold a medical as they age though...too many other health problems are likely to come up. Better get on a program while you're young if possible...it gets harder after 30, and a lot harder after 40.

I've seen guys no way they'd make it out the cockpit emergency exit of a Boeing.

At my last FAA medical, my doc said that NEW WEIGHT STANDARDS are coming and that exceeding those standards will be ground for AUTOMATIC DENIAL of your medical certificate.

Don't know for sure but suspect it's a fallout for the "Over 65" debate. Thanks again old guys ...

so your argument is that because older fit guys can fly, morbidly obese have been disadvantaged? Maybe the young fat guys can sue under ADA...

How big are you? You'd have to be pretty damn large to fail a medical.

I suspect that even if the FAA is publishing weight standards, they will be VERY forgiving...if you can fit in the airplane, you are probably OK.

We have a 300-400lb female pilot(+/- 50lbs)here on the emb, and Im pretty sure it takes her awhile to get in and out of the plane. She must be in good shape if she is able to hold her medical...
