Had to divert to IND from ORD a while back. Two secs after we got our clearance to IND, I get a ding from the back. "Are we going to IND?" asked the F/A. A first class pax had taken off his headset and exclaimed.....WE ARE GOING TO INDIANAPOLIS!!! Thought that was pretty funny. I would say at least half the Captains don't use ch 9. Some because of the liability, but most because it is an act of goodwill. Why should we do anything more than minimum when they won't even talk to us about revising our bankruptcy contract rates. Looks like DAL and NWA are getting a little love. UAL will get what they pay for.
