Made a flight reservation in December for a Friday evening in March.
Get a call the day my daughter was suppose to leave that the flight was cancelled due to "crew problems". They offer me no alternative flight, until I start screaming.
I am told there are no flights available for 3 days later.
First of all I paid $300 extra for non stop and for a Friday Evening Flight.
After arguing with them for 4 hours, they booked her on a delta flight 2 days later, making a stop over.
We go to the air port for that flight on Sunday, only to find, First that United did not call Delta to confirm the reservation, and Delta wants me to pay again. After I go to pay Delta again, they tell me the flight is totally booked and she can't get on.
I am furious!!! I call United AGAIN. And of course there are no flights available. They want to put her on a flight on Wednesday. This is spring break and they know it.
Now she's booked on a flight Monday (isn't it amazing how they can keep finding new flights), but now she makes 3 stops and a trip that should take 2 hours, is taking her 9 hours.
What kills me is first their Customer Service department has to be located in INDIA. After talking to 14 people, there was NOT one of them who spoke english. I couldn't believe when they admit that they totally over book flights and won't be able to seat everyone anyway.
Then they tell me it was cancelled due to the weather, when the rest of my family was leaving the same time on different airlines. After I confronted them and told them the message on my machine said crew problems, they finally admitted that was the problem.
Do you think they would offer me any type of discount, or compensation. NONE
I was never offererd a thing. Even after I told them that this flight if I had booked it back in December would have cost me $250. Which I am paying $650 for.
What kind of scam is United pulling? They cry poor mouth and ask the government for assistance, when the CEO of the company makes over 2 million dollars a year.
They charge for flights they know they can't provide. Isn't that false advertisting?
How are they allowed to get away with such a scam? They keep your money for months and months for a service they KNOW they can't provide. They over charge you for flights never offering to adjust the price of a ticket. No wonder the CEO's making 2 million a year.
Do I earn interest on my money? Of course not, they do.
They overbook, take all the money, and never provide a thing. When she finally will get on a flight 4 days later, half her spring break gone, United will have moved on to the next poor sucker.
Can you imagine doing this to thousands and thousands of people.
