Nothing has changed. We are still dead men walking. If you have opportunities elsewhere, I would pursue them first.

How bout this instead.... As we all know America is in big trouble. I was wondering if anything has changed with their current health? And what do you think the future will look like for America?

It's gotten worse since the May 28th announcement. I've personally seen the loads decrease substantially and the Germans are still saying this is their only option to save DHL.

DHL USA was in serious trouble before the UPS announcement and the outsourcing move only seems to have expedited/sealed their fate. I personally think the UPS pilots would be better off if the deal fell through. UPS will still end up with half or more of DHL's customers, without letting the yellow peril into their tent. DHL has been bad news for pilot groups wherever they go.

What I don’t see is how the UPS deal will save any significant amount of $$

If DHL feels that they cannot make enough money to sustain their business interests here in the USA, but they are willing to contract out the major portion of their business here, and at the same time, continue to have a presence, what can our government possibly think will happen if they deny DHL the right to hire UPS to do their air-freight business? Seems to me that DHL will either have to continue to subsidize their money-losing business, or just get out, lock, stock, and barrel. If it were my company, I know what I'd do.

You would not leave a market that more than half of your other markets touch, that would be global death to you. Just because you can manipulate your books to appear to be loosing money does not make it so.

Well said Jetjok! The unfortunate thing is no matter what they do, shut the doors or out source to UPS thousands of jobs will be lost =:-/

Box-hauler, you also have a good point. DHL could be manipulating their books in order to make an easer case to shift ops to UPS. But I think that might be illegal to do something like that? But who knows, I think they are in real trouble and have to do something fast. Didn’t DHL have a nice modern sort facility in CVG?
