Quote: Ahem . . speaking of 'slow learners';

It won't EVER become 'mute' . .unless you guys just turn the volume down about it.

NOW . .it could possibly become a moot point . . . for all the reasons stated.
or a moo point (ala Joey) because cows can't talk - so it's moo.

Not much to worry about with that.
Quote: If you have the same type of clause in your contract, then your most junior F/O could be assigned an involuntary 777 Cap bid.

Joe
Yes, but the odds of that happening around here are beyond slim. Even before you get to insurance or FAA issues, our general personnel philosophy is that you have to be at least a biochemist to work here, a nuclear physicist to fly intl, all of that plus several astronaut missions under your belt just to fly the 777 or 380, successful completion and certification of Jedi training is required for the left seat and of course you must learn the ways of the Sith to teach on it.

Quote: I don't work for FedEx, however if your contract is anything like the one at my company, if there insufficient bidders for any vacancy bid, then the company may assign the bid to the most junior pilot that meets the minimum FAA requirements for the bid. If you have the same type of clause in your contract, then your most junior F/O could be assigned an involuntary 777 Cap bid.

Joe

Say it ain't so, Joe. There you go again, pointing at your own contract. Now doggonit, let's look ahead to our contract. That's what the people really want to know, by golly. They want to know that we have a plan for our future. Me and Micro are mavericks, and we're going to lead this group to a decent wage for our heroic 777 flyers. You betcha!!

Quote: EXACTLY!! Time to put these guys names (and should have done the same with DP flyers) up on the bulletin boards. The union needs to grow a spine. This "identification" was suggested during the CBA negotiations and we were told "that would slpit the pilot group". No SH!T!!! WE are ALREADY split with these guys acting on their own. I say it's time to ID them and the crewforce start shunning them.
Let me get this straight! You guys worked as hard as you could to throw the senior guys under the bus. Now you junior guys, that are not even close to being able to hold the 777 are now threatening the senior guys if they dare bid it.

Quote: Deuce,

Unfortunately, I am a realist and accept that the company will always have the upper hand. GOLDEN RULE - He who has the gold makes the rules.

Who signs your paycheck?

I understand the desire to live in the fog that ALPA creates, including the illusion that we, collectively, will make a difference. As long as there are more than two pilots there will always be more than two opinions.

"... no one of real import reads these forums anyway." I guess I was wrong.
Ask the corporate execs at Boeing if their machinists are "collectively" making any difference to them right now.......

read this and you tell me.....

Boeing/aerospace | Simmering Boeing strike scorching both sides | Seattle Times Newspaper

pay particular attention to the parts about how the individuals prepared themselves and are supporting the group.

it's all about personal sacrifice for the long-term good of the group - something (sadly) I don't think many FedEx pilots comprehend
