Ok so I asked a few days ago what people thought about Delta Connestion Academy needless to say the responces were mixed but I did take out one name that most everyone commented on. So now I ask the question what makes FlightSafety so much better besides the cost. If anyone has attented the school what did you like and not like about it. What are the cost compaired to DCA what about housing you know just the down right nitty gritty stuff!

FSI is the leader in training, but more specifically for aircraft types... i dont know anyone that went to them for overall training, but i do know people that have gone there for type ratings and initials in corporate and private jets. the one in teterboro is pretty nice and is set up well, but i dont see how getting your private or instrument will be any different... costs are high for type ratings and initials, but worth it because of the name... DCA and ATP are starting to have a black mark against them but FSI should stay good... i am going there in august for initial in the 800XP and i am pretty confident in the training

downsides: at least from the jet perspective, i think its hard to get sim time.. i know people that get sim time from like 3- 6 AM because thats all thats available...

Flight safety is the best of all the major academies.
Costs are competitive, and in may cases, better than DCA, RAA, and American Flyers.

BIG advantage, you get to do your instrument in a multi. Remember you need 100hrs of multi to get a good airline job offer. If you get your CFI, and sign a contract to instruct for 800hrs (About 1 year), which you will probably need to do anyway, Flight Safety will pay for your CFII and MEI. No cost to you. Another HUGE advantage, since the instrument, commercial, and multi training is ALL done in a multi engine aircraft, most your time instructing will be multi time. It is not uncommon to see F.S. guys with 1000TT and like 500 multi!

No other flight academy even comes close to flight safety.

Ok so is FlightSafety the same thing as DCA as far as training is concerned? They do type ratings but do they do training all the way from private to ATP or lets put it this way how far does the training at FS go?

They teach you how to fly the right way. They place a very high emphasis on the fundamentals of flying. Not just techniques. They live and die by using the checklist. Same thing at an airline. They have an established network of pilots all throughout the industry (there several of us here at FedEx). There is always an aircraft available which is very important for training. There mx is top notch.

They get you ready for an airline plain and simple. I started in sept. of 97. Got hired by a regional in Sept of 99. Got to FDX in sept of 05'. Go to the academy, best money youll ever spend.

Living in Vero is kinda rough on the social scene. Your either 65 or older or 13 and younger. There is riverside cafe which is OK but gets old fast. My roomate and I were paying 300 bucks each for a 2 bedroom apt. (1200 square feet). Really cheap. Great airport to fly out of. On the beach, in the middle of the state, all the controllers around florida are familiar with FlightSafety in a good way. Unlike DCA in Sanford or Riddle, your not spending 15 minutes on the ground to take off. You have Ft Pierce about 15 min South which is great for touch and gos. You have Melbourne were you can get all your approaches in within an hour and a half. The syllabus is very well put together. I could go on, but I think you catch my drift.

I just got a info packet about flightsaftey right now, very colorful and plenty of smiling pilots and tons of simulator shots. Then I got to the cost estimate for the Pro Pilot Program; $63,491.00.

Thats a lot of cash, no doubt. Try working fo the company, youll probably get a disount. Also, get a quote on the program from private to MEI.

FSI is (to me) no doupt the best Aviation Training Academy in the USA.
I was there in 99 and coming from military backround i noticed a lot of similarities. All their CFI's are going through Standarization training which is great and also there are alot of foreign airlines that train their pilots there.
Yes it's an expensive school but their PRO pilot programme states (and its true) that if you do not get hired from the airline programm they will give you around 30,000USD back.So the choice is yours...
By the way I love Vero Beach and actually I visit at least once a year.It's a great town that you can relax and dedicate your self to studying.

www.prairieairservice.com You can get your ratings and multi time for less than half of the above quote. Small operation but excellent instruction and you can take the planes anywhere you want while building time. A lot of flight schools put restrictions on how far you can go on a x/c.
