Quote: You do have to buy a ZED fare ticket on AF. Its easy to do on travelnet, pay with a credit card then they send you a confirmation e-mail. If you dont use the ZED fare tickets, they refund you almost all of your tickets. We did this in the past twice as back-ups but always got on the DL flight to somewhere in the US. AF employees dont have anything like the pass benefits that DL does, (pay for all passes, limited amount, etc.) so they may not be that user-freindly to employees. Have a great time in France!
Also just did zed all online for Alaska (horizon) flt last weekend. Works seemlessly. On gotcha for Alaska is if you want to js even in back of plane their system requires them to input pilot certificate # and date of issuance to make a listing. A little different than others.

Its not just Air France with poor pass benefits. It's pretty much all foreign carriers. The pass benefits that we have in the states is light years better than any foreign carrier. $50/yr and go anywhere in the world. At my last job, it was hundreds of dollars to non-rev in coach anywhere. And they wouldn't even bump you up to business if it was open. $$$$$.
Quote: So this reminds me of the greatest Simpsons episode ever. Homer buys a gun.

"I don't have to be careful, I've got a gun." He spends the next 5 days of his mandatory waiting period steaming mad and mumbling about not being allowed to have his gun.

Mandatory psych eval? That really just makes me so angry. Spend the next 5 days mumbling about it.
My problem is that, although I am incredibly sane, I've got kind of a Marty Feldman look.

I'm worried that unless I can get through the gate and into the cockpit unnoticed by the pax, we'll be losing quite a few white knucklers at the gate.

The shame comes oozing right through the responses. When are you guys going to get that policy fixed? It's not like you don't have any commuters....

Uhh, what policy would that be?
We only have one js in the 73. Two js? No thanks.

Shame? What are you talking about? So the 737's were delivered from the factory with one jumpseat. Doesn't seem like a policy change is going to fix that. How many other airlines have the second jumpseat installed on their 737's?

Being a commuter and a 737 pilot I am thankful there is only 1 jumpseat in ours. That cockpit is an absolute crime. I cringe every time there is somebody occupying it. Boeing should be the one with the bags over their heads.

Don't even get me started on the overhead panel.
I heard the guy who engineered the 2nd 737 jumpseat got his inspiration from this:

You guys have a contract yet?
