Agreed. If you check the resumes of management at "The New Delta", there's a LOT of NWA blood there. The sooner our Widget friends come to this realization, the better off they'll be.

I think it's two differnt things that we're talking about here.

The 88B in ATL has been short for awhile. DALPA gave the co. a few months of increasing the ALV on the 88B to help out. I had heard about 3-4 months ago that our overall staffing was close to where it needed to be, we just had pilots on the wrong equipment. At some point Delta either needed to reshuffle the deck or hire. Hiring is unlikely right now, thus the re-shuffle. I have a hard thinking that NW mngt. had their hands in Delta 6-9 months ago when Delta mngt. was making staffing plans?

Reducing Delta flying and shifting to NW is another issue. This truely would be a NW pilots gain at the Delta pilots expense. Could be both issues at play here.

Most Delta pilots do support having us all at parity. Why did the NW ALPA agree to and the rank and file vote yes to the JC? All this bp5 stuff is new to us Southern folk. News flash guys, we don't like this any more than you guys do.
For those that are interested (I know I am) this is from the JCBA. Note the 36 month pay protection period is from CBAID not from the date of displacement.

Attachment B

The following items apply to pre-merger Delta pilots during the transition of former NWA pilots to the Delta PWA. These provisions are limited and primarily deal with the integration of the fleets, computer systems and operations. All the items in this attachment will sunset during the transition period and do not become permanent, so these rules will not be written into the PWA.

Section 4
MINIMUM PAY AND CREDIT GUARANTEES

Amend Section 4 J. (new) to include the following:

J. Minimum Pay and Credit Guarantees Transition for Pre-merger Delta Pilots

For a period of 36 months following CBAID, a pilot who is displaced via an MD (or involuntary displacement) to a position with a lesser composite hourly pay rate will be pay protected at the rate applicable to the higher paying position for the hours paid to him in his current category. Such pay protection will be for the difference in the composite hourly pay rate applicable to the position from which he was displaced and the highest paying position his seniority allows him to hold. This provision will no
longer be applicable when a pilot’s seniority allows him to hold a position of equal or greater pay compared to the position from which he was displaced. For example, a 7ERA has as his preference M88B and his seniority is sufficient the he could hold M88A, the pilot will only have the dollar difference between 7ERA and M88A applied to the hours he flies as an M88B.

Our interpretation of the JC and trip-rig was at CBAID (DCC+1 day). DAL Inc and DALPA are arguing BP5. This is what we are grieving. The position DALPA is taking is hurting your junior pilots

If the Dalpa reps honestly felt that what NWA is pushing is not what was negotiated would you expect them to not tell the truth? There were some definitive reasons for the time lines and transition process. One big item was to minimize the amount of computer code writing to effect the transtion. That is why they are doing things in stages. IT is maxed out writing code for all the other transitions items. The system in place means they don't have to try and reprogram any NWA computers for a short time. Here are some sections from the agreement.

Where do you see the Delta side shrinking permantly? This is about moving people around where they are needed, not out the door. The reduction in hours for the 757s and 767s is also being driven by the fact that airframes will be pulled offline for cabin mods and winglets. Lets not get all spooled up by rhetoric and hyberbole.
