Can anyone out there foresee Chautauqua's plans now that Express Jet plans on keeping the 69 planes? I would still asume they are going to take over the Express Jet routes. What equipment are they going to use? When does this transition take place?

CHQ probably doesn't have any plans at this point because Continental needs to make the next move. If Continental still wants another regional to fly RJ's for them besides ExpressJet, then Continental would need to send out a new request for proposals for regional airlines to submit a new bid on the flying. It would then be up to each regional submitting the bid to figure out what airplanes they would use since they will not have access to ExpressJet's airplanes. So far, Continental has not asked for any new proposals.....maybe they will in the future, maybe they won't...wait and see I guess.

I like your post, but our boss always has a plan. We never know what it is, but he has one. One day, we'll read about it in USA Today Section B....

They could do what everybody else does: File bankruptcy and ask labor for pay cuts.

I'm pretty sure CAL doesn't have to send out another RFP - Chautauqua/Republic was already picked to fly as a CAL Express carrier. Where they get the planes has nothing to do with the previously awarded RFP. The million dollar question is what planes does CHQ use?

There are a million rumors and they are all just that until you see a CHQ/RAH plane painted in CAL colors.

Actually CAL will have to send out another RFP. The proposal CHQ submitted to CAL was contingent upon using airplanes that XJT was supposed return to CAL. Now that CHQ cannot use those airplanes, all of numbers/costs they submitted in their original proposal to CAL aren't valid.

I see 2 possible scenarios:

1) CAL puts out a new RFP and may the best regional win the bid.

OR

2) CAL does not put out a new RFP. XJT just increases the aircraft utilization on the remaining 205 aircraft it will still fly for CAL.

As it stands today, CHQ will not do any flying for CAL in my opinion. The only way this would change is if CAL puts out a new RFP and CHQ is awarded a new contract.

CHQ is going to buy comair and use those rjs to fly for cal.

I work in Orlando for OH and the words as of today is that last week Republic Airways just bought Comair.This came from a reliable source in the company
