Quote: Be careful what you wish for. This could put all F9 pilots out of work. Southwest won't want the planes or the pilots, just the marketshare in Denver.
Quote: this is great news for the Frontier guys

Funny how the opinions go...

not exactly. If SWA purchases the company and replaces the airbus with 737's and closes the operating certificate then frontier becomes southwest, increases in Denver, and UAL is in a world of hurt. I'm sure many will just look at the financial implications for the pilot group instead of the negative effects of this buyout.

Quote: About a year ago this was a rumor. I also heard that SWA would trade the Airbuses for B737's from Mexicana or some airline down south. I guess we'll find out.
Or another airline in the south-east. Apparently DAL is taking a cue from the old NWA playbook of liking discounted used jets.

Quote: wont matter, if swa buys f9 the pilots come with the purchase
Ask ATA pilots how that worked out for them.....

Now I dont have a dog in this fight, however it seems that Republic is an airline that knows how to get things done. SWA does also. I think either way it goes Frontier will be in a good position in the future.

SWA isn't alpa...what's to prevent them from cutting the Frontier guys loose?

this means more $39 fares, less jobs, possibly an end to UAL in Denver or worse. How is this great for frontier vs Republic's deal? Besides salary of course! More money does not mean job security

This IS big news. Any idea IF Southwest is succesful getting Frontier, would they be able to keep the certificate to serve the Mexico destinations? Or would they have to do that under the Frontier certificate?

I don't know what this will mean for the F9 guys. It could be a great thing. However, this purchase needs to be approved by a judge. If southwest intends to just shutdown F9 (likely), a judge may not bite in a time where unemployment is nearly 10%. It wouldn't be the first time southwest bought someone and left the pilots behind. The precedent is there.
