Yes, I have tinnitus after wearing Bose ANR headsets. It maybe coencidental and the 70's has caught up with me. It is mostly in my right ear. I wish I knew for sure the ANR head set was he cause.

I have had tinnitus since age of 22. Don't believe that it is only for old people. It has a lot to do with genetics because my dad has it as well. I have noticed that it gets worse with lack of blood flow anyone ever notice? Try drinking some coffee, maybe its just me. I also got it from shooting a box of shotgun shells without protection. It took only once. Going to an audiologist is basically a waste of time. I have been to 3 and all have no clue about it, just info on hearing aids. I have a question if theres any military guys here. I am wanting to try out for the guard, but not sure if I would pass the hearing check. Anyone have input on that? Thanks

I had a significant hearing loss when I went into the military and became a pilot. Since I went in, the hearing standards have gone up (you have to have better hearing now). However, they are not that high, you can still have some loss and qualify.

The test the military uses is pretty tough to cheat on, and is very accurate. However, it uses a pulsing sound and not a steady tone. This is so someone with tinnitus can still pass the test. The problem with tinnitus is it may be at the same frequency as the test sound. Thus, with the pulsing you should still be able to discern the tone.

Looks to be the most promising that I have found so far. I search about once every other month for a cure. I have yet to contact this doctor. One of the problems with ANR headsets is pilots think the volume has to be all the way up on them, like their old non-ANR headsets. So instead of setting the volume where one can hear speech clearly, one blasts it.

Expensive (about 4000$ I think) and most Ins. doesnt cover because of a lack of codeing, but they are working on that. Sounds like it's worth keeping up on.

Got tinnitus at age 21, 35 years ago - don't know why, but I was riding a (muffled) motorcycle w/o a helmet. Spent a lot of time researching w/ ATA (American Tinnitus Association). Some of what I heard then: Some guy could not take the sounds any more, so he had his auditory nerves severed - then he was deaf, but he still heard the ringing - oops.
I also heard (and experienced) the following: The more you focus on it, the more it bothers you. Now it is just there for me, the same way you can always see your nose out of either eye (seriously) .

Thread bump. I believe i have tinnitus in my left ear. The ringing has been pretty bad over the past week or so from loud music. Is this grounds for losing a medical? Or is my hearing loss going to be X and i just have to move on and deal with it?
