What they are looking for is if you are always sick on Christmas or the Super Bowl.

#1 sick day for pilots = Super Bowl
#1 sick day for flight attendants = Halloween

I had several speeding tickets in the past - distant past, like early 90s as well as a Turn on Red within the last 5 years. I mentioned them on the application - the whole discussion of that only took probably 20 seconds. They didn't spend a lot of time there.

I would be far more worried if I didn't include something on the application rather than admitting to it and discussing it. Like someone said, in this day and age it is easy to find records of almost anything instantly.

Last time a filled out the Delta airlineapps.com it asked for all tickets within the past decade. I am not sure how accurate my info is but i vaguely recall the 10 yr deal.

To be quite honest with you it seems like 14 yrs is an awful long time to let this bug you or hold you back in any way. If it was a kid it would be in high school by now. If i were you i would throw it on there and if anything is said about it just merely state that you werent sure if it was necessary but you just wanted to be completely forthcoming. "It is not something i am proud of but i learned a lot from the experience and have changed my driving habits"

If they want to make a big deal about it then they are living in a dream world (they wont and arent). Sometimes tickets happen but it is a pattern of screw ups that they are looking for.

Thanks for all the responses..Ok, I will come clean and see what you think..In 1996, my license was suspended for missing a driver's safety course (after receiving 2 tickets in my first 2 years of driving, which I reported on my app) because I was out of state at college. This was an "Administrative" suspension. On airlineapps, the page specifically says "Criminal Driving History". On that page, it talks about DUI, DWI, etc. Then, under that, it asks if you have ever had your license suspended or revoked. I checked "no", because it was not a "criminal" suspension, and I don't want it to be misconstrued. I would rather explain this in person if they discover it, than have them never call me because my license was suspended for something silly. I am not trying to be deceittful in any way, just don't want to highlight myself in a negative light. It was also in a different state, which I left 8 years ago. Thoughts?

Call your local DMV and get them to send you a copy of your driving record. I know I had a speeding ticket in 2005 but that's the last one I can remember. I don't see how you remember getting one 14yrs ago.

As in sick a few times a year or sick a few times ever? Most companies allow 4 sick calls a year, is that too many?

Put it on the app along with an explanation, as well as how the whole issue was resolved. There's a reason why they put that explanation box in there.

I know there is the urge not to highlight something negative from the past in order to get the interview with the idea to "'fess up" once you get there. BAD IDEA!!! Delta knows people make mistakes. They're more interested in your integrity than your driving record. Be prepared to explain the event, but don't exclude it from the application. If they have even the slightest hint that you're hiding something or are not forthcoming, you're toast. It's as simple as that. The saying at Delta is that the only way to get fired here is to lie or show up drunk.

FWIW, I had the unfortunate experience of bending airplane metal many years ago. Obviously, it wasn't one of my proudest moments. But I still put it on the application, got the interview, we discussed it and if you look at my avatar, you can guess how it turned out.

4 sick is what I am at in 12 months.

I called my insurance company and asked them to send me every ticket they had on me. They were able to go back as far as 2001 (USAA) for what it's worth.

Bringing this one back from the dead...

My home state (where I have my DL out of) does not collect information on speeding tickets from other states and other states do not report said tickets to my home state. I do have one speeding ticket in my home state, and that is on my record, but a speeding ticket that I got in WI about a year ago is not on there. I don't anticipate it ever being on my driving record, and obviously it's not in the NDR. Is this something I have to report?
