All right, so I'm getting my bottom two wisdom teeth (finally) removed in a week or so. I've only been in aviation for about a year and I'm still kind-of clueless on medical issues. My questions are

1. Should I report the operation the the FAA, my AME, whomever.. ?

2. Would it be something I would be grounded for a while for?

3. If I don't have to report it, or the FAA doesn't have some mandated recovery period, how long should I ground myself to be safe?

4. When filling out my medical renewal form next year is it something I should put on the "previous doctor visits" column?

Yes, technically you should report it on your next medical. Nobody will really care either way, but no point in creating a technical violation by not reporting it.

This would be one of those things that you can make your own determination as to when you are fit to fly...basically when you feel up to it. If painkillers are involved make sure you know how long you have to wait after your last dose (call your AME if in doubt).

WOW thanks for bringing this question up. I may have to remove all 4 wisdom teeth and I did not bother to ask if I needed to report it. I would of forgotten to mix the FAA medical with teeth issues. Thanks!
