Hey guys, quick question.

This will be my first time traveling civilian with all my equipment, and I'm really skeptical about checking in my ACH and molle vest. Would TSA have a problem with this? or the Airline? I still don't have my travel orders so I don't know which airline I'm taking.

I can't answer your question. I have no idea.

I just think it's sad that someone who defends our country has to ask this and worry about the TSA giving you a hard time through security.

Sad.

It's sad but knowing tsa, who knows what can happen.

I'm thinking of checking in most of my stuff like my rock sack and 1 duffel bag, and for carry on I would like to bring my:

nvg's
ach
molle vest
1 set of acu
Sensitive documents

I was able to put everything in a back pack with the ach attached on the outside.

All my mags are staying behind and so is my knife.

just found this on airliners.net Another TSA Outrage | RedState a TSA agent won't let a soldier board a charter flight until he surrender his nail clippers but at the same time he is carrying an m4 and a 9mm and that is fine with the agent... got to love it...

What are you talking about!? It makes perfect sense, to TSA.

Check it
Just check it all, except the documents. If you’re on orders there is no problem at all with TA-50, including NVG's and firearms. I would make sure to document everything I checked, maybe a photo or two. I have traveled on civil carriers (both US and foreign airlines) back and forth from the States to down range several times WITH my M9 (or two), magazines (unloaded), knife, TA-50 equipment ... ect. As long as the bags are locked, (you may have to show the contents then lock it back) you’re fine. As long as you took due diligence to protect what your signed for, (by checking and locking the bag) you are covered. Only take through security what you really need on the plane. Keep it simple, if you try to take these things through security your just asking for problems. You may then have to go back and put it in one of your checked bags, (after it is found) and might miss the flight.
