Quote: I haven't heard anything about this one in a while... did this rumor get squashed or is it just dormant in another thread waiting to be "stimulated" again?
The guy who started the rumor has been busy in training at Delta.
Can I ask a question and get a serious answer? Any idea on the average amount of time that the new hires had? Thanks.
Thanks for asking a question that is on topic.
If you are asking about flying time, I think the current class is very experienced. I would guess (and it's only a guess) that the vast majority have 4000-5000 hours each (min). More important I think is the level of experience. It seems that all have somewhere between 5 and 25 years of professional pilot experience. Ages vary from late 20s to early 50s. That's the best I can answer, sorry...

If you are asking about time until notification, etc:
Some in the current class interviewed in the summer while some interviewed in October. Folks have been asked to interview with a month's notice or a week's notice...varies greatly. Most that have already interviewed were given exactly two weeks notice as an invitation to attend a training class.

I hope that helps.
Jeez fellas, I was not trying to make a statement about Jet Blue. I would have been very interested in working there had I not just started at Delta. I was just trying to give some info on the topic. I probably fit the average candidate:

20 years USAF
B737, DC10 types
5,500 hours
AF Check Airman
44 years old
(Furloughed from AA since '01)

Again, good luck to all those who get an interview.

I left JetBlue for Delta in 2007 because I had the chance to work for an airline that had a base where I wanted to live. I'm glad I work for Delta, but would probably be just as happy at JetBlue if I lived in MCO or BOS. It was a great place to work and has gotten better since I left as far as pay goes. However, if you plan on working there and commuting into JFK your life will be miserable unless you just love to commute. In any case it's great that airlines are starting to hire again good luck to anyone who gets an interview. If you want a shot at Delta, I've been hearing rumblings of alot more than 300 in 2011.

Crash,

Any word on if United furloughed are being interviewed and if they are asking for resignations?

Thanks. DV

I hear there is a guy in class now who has been furloughed from UAL twice. JB will not make you resign if you are furloughed.
Where are most of your 190's based? In the past, what do you think the average time on reserve was? Finally how junior/senior are your Florida bases?

Thanks!

190 bases are JFK, BOS and MCO. Reserve was 3 months for me (but that was 4 years ago), so it's anybody's guess. I don't think our most recent crop of new 190 pilots will spend much time on reserve because of all of the hiring and transitions. FLL base is real senior (only A320s) and MCO is real senior on the A320 with some junior folks on the 190. All new hires go to JFK and BOS these days.
