Quote: Absolutely, Just the way I was raised thats all. My Mother was very strict on what she wore as well as my what my Father to work. She felt not wearing the jacket and the hat was degrading to the pilot profession. It has stuck with me, just a product of my environment i guess.
Makes sense looking at your avatar

I don't see anything professional about the hats. They make all pilots look uniform when wearing them but are not professional requirement. My doctor/dentist doesn't wear one. And it looks like crap when you have pilots wearing them like they are in the marines. Tipped down in front with a snarl on the face. Is that professional? Does that make u a good pilot? Does that instill trust in your passengers? I think not.

Again my own personal opinion, I am just used to seeing and hearing the importance of it thats all. The hat is not a general professional uniform piece so the DR/Dentist arguement is irrelevant. I agree with people wearing the hats wrong, it does look like crap.

That's funny a bunch of guys saying former military guys are wearing there airline pilot hats wrong? Think about the standard that military guys are coming from and the standard they had when they were in the mil. I'm sure its alot higher than the airline ones. I've seen people wearing stupid jewelry, ugly shoes and unkept hair. The military allows leather jackets does that make then unprofessional? I'd rather have more guys looking like they were clean-cut military than the ipod wearing/skycap looking slouches that are running around.

Its the people who were never in the military that think they are. But it's all irrevelant because an airline pilot is not a profession. Look it up.

A gentleman wouldn't wear his hat indoors anyways, so the only time you should put your hat on is during the walk around and getting into and out of the hotel van. The rest of the time you can carry the damn thing, that is, if you are a gentleman. Mine looks best sitting in the closet, or hopefully at a picketing event soon!

For what its worth, Air Force and Navy Pilots also wear leather jackets. Does that make them look unprofessional too?

I have no issues with wearing an overcoat as opposed to a leather jacket. But make it look professional. Double Breasted with Epaulets straps and a belt.

You might as well be wearing a black or blue lab coat otherwise.

What was your first post? Shouldn't be to hard to find as you only have 80 yourself. My point is, why does someone's first post have to be this epic lifechanging post? Do you critisize your coworkers about their first sentence you hear them say to you? Way to show your true colors bag.

Just my .02 some people need to lighten up. This is why it was first post since 2005. I now remember why I don't post here.
