I'm not judging this man by any means and I pray that he will be successful in saving his career and getting any help that he needs but lets face it. Our mistakes are considered newsworthy, the responsibility that our profession carries is enormous and the public knows it. In spite of this they also think we are overpaid and we do not for that very reason.
As they say, with responsibility comes accountability.
This is absolutely correct guys. Assuming the machine didn't give a false reading, this is not an alleged incident. Bankruptcy took away the pay to which our skills entitled us, but it didn't take away the awesome responsibility for all those lives we carry.
HIMS and other programs have been out there for decades now. We are long past the excuse stage for our brothers with this "problem". Too much capital and energy has been spent on these programs to go unutilized. In today's world, when these programs are ignored by the "problem child", my sympathy gauge is at zero and my p!ssed off gauge is pegged.
