Cute. Have you flown it?
In most cases, the Maddog gets a lot of help with the career damage from the Captain and F/O flying it.

My regrets, I didn't mean it to be cute. Any accident is very serious and this airplane has had far too many. We are at least fortunate no one got hurt this time, but once again I really hate to see two of our own having to deal with their careers being put under the microscope. We seem each time to give the engineers who designed the plane a free pass, when maybe, just maybe they got it wrong. I've flown the DC-10, but not the MD. No issues with the DC, I mean none. I understand that many who fly the MD like it a lot and I respect the perspective of their first-hand experience. On the flip side, since the early days of the DC going away I've heard a very long list of people say without being asked that they will never bid the MD because of its safety history. It is definitely going junior compared to other wide bodies, so for the people who like it I guess the positive thing to say is "enjoy your seniority."

Just for the record, and so that any blames goes where it belongs, the engineers were not allowed to do what they wanted to do. Blame should go to the MD Board and senior management team who would not give the development team the resources that might have produced a great airplane.

It is not hard to find them, many are now at Boeing.

Hm... well... we know who is going to be talking to the chief pilot, and going to "recurrency" training... :-)
