Honest to heavens I have never been sick by commercial food in the last 30 years. Luck, no doubt. I do recall one time 15 years ago I was engaged in driving trucks, the guy I was working with in over the road had a big Taco Bell lunch that I actually skipped, then had a really bad day. He had to stop the truck every rest area for hours on end, and he really meant business. Poor guy was not even bothering to wear his pants by the fourth or fifth stop. Consequently, I avoided Taco Bell for about a decade when I realized that unclean kitchens can happen anywhere, and I quit trying to out-maneuver it. Still have not been sick since or before. Luck maybe, but I did grow up on a farm.

I've had it happen just once while working (and yes I did have fish actually, though it wasn't on the job but a tuna sandwich from an airport café). Kept it together long enough to make it back home but the flight was pretty miserable.

Guys, get your local Dr to set you up with a Cipro prescription and some Z-Packs. Also carry bottle caplet form of Pepto-Bismol and a bottle of omeprazole.

The above is in my "TDY kit" at all times.

Be aware that Z was recently found to increase the risk of sudden death due to heart rhythm problems.

Good to note. However E-Coli and violent diarrhea in Honduras (I personally experienced that) will make you pop some zithromax

Again, good to be aware of.

** not directly related but kinda, everyone should get Flu shot AND if 50 or above, also a pneumonia shot, if going to third world countries.

Also take a quality probiotic on a daily basis. I started taking them 2 years ago and have yet to get a real dose of stomach issues! Now I take the Vitamin Shoppee 50 billion capsules once a day. I swear I also did not get a cold this winter.

no ! better is beer or sprite etc. be careful at the breakfast buffet. Usually they set it up at 0500 for a 0630 Buffet. fruit sitting there collecting germs. Let one change-out occur then hit it

No hamburger patties, etc. steak well done OK. hamburger patties are mashed by the cook who may or may not have washed his hands after he pooped. Just sayin'

I usually look for grilled chicken and or pasta plates while overseas. Well-done beef at a reputable restaurant also. Cooked not runny eggs OK too.

I have noticed overseas that "room service food" is carefully prepared (and in theory better cooked) versus the hotel buffet. Sometimes I just order that and play on the laptop and call momma versus going into town in San Salvador in search of dinner and getting jacked by MS-13

FYI

Seems as though you must have had many bad experiences! Live and learn and never make the same mistake twice!
