Quote: You mean the s&&***head in MIA is a scab, right? not one of our guys?
The Boeing 757/767 guy in MIA is the scab. (I'm not Purple - I'm sure your guys are top-notch) Very old-school mentality, loves playing head games in the sim. All of the other instructors were fine, and the bust rates were normal. No ISS panels in those sims, either. Scheduling is chaotic because the sims break a lot and they have to reschedule constantly.

If it's just differences training, no big deal.

Quote: You'd go to MIA. Boeing closed everything else. Hope you guys have some pull down there - the sims break down often and the head of 757/767 training is an EAL scab.

Hmmm. I'll have to pass that info on to all our instructors and LCAs going to diff training in SEA.

Apologies, must be still spooling down. Going off what I read in the press and what the MIA Boeing guys tell us.

Granted I'm just a lowly piston guy, but moves like Corp HQ to Chicago, manufacturing to Japan, training to Miami, don't make a lot of sense for a company with its beating heart in Seattle.

See, there WAS a reason we called the 727 center tank boost pumps "Miami and Seattle" ;-)

Corporate HQ move right after Senior Senator dumped by liberal voters in 2000. No love from politicians in Washington State. Also needed international airport, banking and legal services not available in left corner of country as production and marketing become more international driven (that's where the growth is). Seattle is very parochial. Salesman now run company, not engineers (for better or worse).

Manufacturing et al is driven by high cost of living in Seattle area since MicroSlave and Amazon have more than doubled housing prices and wage rates. Cheaper to pay factory worker in the South than Liberalsville. Also avoids routine walkouts by Union members disrupting production. South = Right to Work states.

Boeing has sold off much of its Seattle area real estate over the past decade. Would not be surprised if all manufacturing moved to the South over the next decade. I believe all future 787's to be built in South Carolina.

The instructors in SEA are mostly full-time and are union. The MIA instructor corps is a hodgepodge of scabs and independent (read part time) help.

The MIA move is union busting and job killing. The quality of the experience seems to vary accordingly. I have been to both places very regularly for years.
