Hello everyone, I am new here.

I am starting my training for my ATPL-IR at the SMATSA aviation academy in Vrsac, Serbia this september.

I have already got my class 1 medical and have very good results (0.1 eye sight score (0-0.5 required for air force)

At the Academy, we mainly train on Cessna 172 and 310, when we finish we are given approximately 250 hours with a frozen license.

My question is, can I apply to the airforce with this? It is my dream to be in the air force because I've always wanted to fly military type planes, my cousin was an ex mig pilot of the yugoslav air force which has very much inspired me to be a pilot. Keep in mind, I have very outstanding health qualifications according to my medical.

What are your thoughts guys? I would appreciate some advice.

If it helps, I have already flown and landed a Pioneer 200 and ASK 21 Glider.

There are probably very pilots on this forum who can answer specific questions about Eastern European Air Forces. Honestly I would maybe start with your cousin and see what he find out for you, or even just find a military recruiter to ask.

But most air forces around the world will take pilot applicants with little or no flight experience, so a frozen ATPL should be helpful in the application process.

Yes I have talked to him, he was offered multiple times by the US air force and Israel air force to fly F22 Raptor and F15 Eagles but declined them due to a close call in his career with the Yugoslav air force. However, I do not have the experience he has (1500 hours logged in a mig-21 and mig-29) so I am very limited. I have a British passport and a Serbian passport, but applying to the Serbian air force would seem almost silly as they only have a few migs now and thats about it. Is there a possibility the USAF or others take applicants from around the world?

To be an officer in the US military, you have to be a citizen first. There are ways to enlist, gain your citizenship, and then get a commission, but it is a long road, and probably not worth exploring. Even if you could do it all, getting a security clearance in your situation would probably be a show stopper.

You say that your uncle got offered to fly for the IAF? Sounds extremely odd to me. Unless your uncle was flying in the 1950s...
