To upgrade at my current job is about 10-15 years if that, the captains that work here love it and don't want to leave. FO pay is about the same as first year pay at the regional and stays that way until you upgrade! The schedule is great but It's not worth to sit here for that long.

Quote: I have gotten my ATP written done and already filled out my airline apps. Got two calls from Trans States and American Eagle but my friends told me not to interview there and try to wait for SkyWest or Republic. I should be at 1500 but end of July! I spoke to the recruiter at Trans States and he said upgrade times was 14-16 months but not sure if that's true!!
Don't take the TransStates interview. Pilots hate that place, we get disparaging posts from the pilots all day long. Nearly half the new guys wash out of training because they are too cheap to pay for extra sim if you aren't getting the point fast enough. Republic gets a lot of negative press, Eagle is much better, better still Skywest. The latter is not hiring right now. Maybe also try Expressjet.

No disrespect- but cub hasnt flown at any of them. Wait for reg guys to chime in. Eagle is a risk right now. Skywest has a decent contract along with wisco and xprsjet. Rahs contract sucks but if you live in base and hold a line, its not that bad. Piedmonts contract is alright but the planes are old and youll sweat yur ass off in the summers+6-8 leg days are tough. Mesa is mesa. Good luck bro.

Quote: With that job, why go with any regional? You will be getting TPIC time soon enough, better pay and benefits, no commuting. What's not to like?

Not all corporate jobs are a dream career. In fact, most aren't. I left a job as a CJ3 captain for a regional (SkyWest) several years ago, and don't regret it a bit.

Your first consideration should be where these carriers have bases that would allow you to minimize / eliminate a commute. Where do you live?

Agreed. In the OPs situation, I would choose Compass, followed by SkyWest (they have a junior MSP base).

That's my plan but I don't think they are hiring till delta does something, according to the recruiters. Also Skywest is a good option but recruiter said about 6 years for upgrade! Any one know some guys at Skywest?
