I have seemed to get some quality insight on here so I thought I would give it another shot.

I have bounced this off a lot of people at my company and have gotten mixed ideas.

Currently just shy of 900tt. Flying right seat in a Otter. have the opportunity to possibly move to a 208. Turbine PIC, pay raise, but it would be VFR limited. Not only due to our op specs but I would still be under 135 mins for single pilot IFR.

On the other hand their is a possibility that I could get my ATP early next summer even with the new requirements and maybe upgrade next year. Its a long shot but possible. However I am worried about getting saturated in SIC time in a aircraft that doesn't require a type.

Want more details please feel free to ask.

Either route will get you hired at a regional when the time comes. Neither will get you hired at a major. What's your objective?

Would rather get into private or corporate aviation. But I understand I will probably have to go the regionals to get the required time.

I'm confused. What is you ultimate goal in which you need advice for. Sounds like your set for the 208 job. Are you looking for advice as to what would give you the best competitive edge toward regional airlines? Or do you have no desire for airline life and just want advice between a long term commitment between the 208 job or your current otter job? Sorry I was little vague. My biggest question is what is more valuable. The single pic our the multi SIC. Obviously over all the multi PIC is the best. So do I take the chance of staying in the right seat logging another 500 hrs of SIC on the hope I might be able to upgrade next year. Like I mentioned is a long shot.
Or go to the 208 log some PIC. G1000 by the way.

I vote for single PIC. You'll grow more having to make the right calls at this point. Anyway, it's not forever..

I would say it depends on your total multi time as it... Get to your 135 IFR mins, and move on to something different. I work at Ameriflight and at 135 Mins were hiring pilots straight into the Left seat of the Beech 99. PIC Multi turbine. The PIC turbine in the single could help you land a gig like AMF since you'll be flying turbine equipment and you'll be the captain, but which would benefit you more… it's more of a coin toss...

If you go to the 208, are you stuck there or can you go back to the Twotter as a captain?

@pilotandrew I have about 530 ME. almost all SIC.

@Swedish I wouldn't be able to go back to the otter until after about a year. And after getting my ATP. I talked to the Director of Flight Training and he said they would prefer to bring one of the Caravan guys back to the otter because they will have some "captain" experience.

Since you only have ~900 tt, I don't see how it would hurt. You need 1500 for a regional or 1200 for 135 IFR. If it gives you a better chance at getting PIC in the Otter as opposed to upgrading right to left seat in the Otter, I'd probably do it.
