Non news. Over hyped stuff like this can and does happen to every airline under the sun. Today this airline is anti baby, tomorrow that one is anti veteran or anti disabled person. The next day an airline is anti breast feeding/woman's rights, blah blah blah.

Sick of the ambulance chasers playing the victim card. Worst case things like this are isolated incidents that may or may not even have played out as they are advertised.

You think making a little kid pee in the seat (when it is perfectly OK to use a lav on a parked airplane) and then refusing to let her mom clean it up is OK?

Really? This is acceptable?

Do you know all the details? What if they allowed it and the plane had to stop suddenly and the kid cartwheeled down the isle and got hurt? They'd be suing to the high heavens dragging JB through court calling them baby killers.

Its just not that simple.

In any case, like I said, even if this was the worst case as implied, and most cases aren't even close, then all we have is one example in a billion man hours of dealing with this kind of thing every day. If its just an unfortunate accident in a common operating environment where sometimes people have to stay seated, and sometimes things like this are inevitably going to happen, then I really hope no one gets paid from this. I'm sure because it made the news its an automatic 6 figure pay day though.

The excuses are all BS - there is a parking brake installed and last I checked we all get paid by the min.

Did you really need to post this, what was the point?
Every airline has issues and I will stick up for us and say we do try to take care of people. I guess it must be easy to judge when you fly boxes. They will look into it and IF the story is true that FA is gone, the have fired them for much less.

You're right, we don't have all the details. The non revving pilot seemed to think it was stupid though. As a general rule, I don't take people back to the gate for peeing their panties against orders.

I think we've all been in that situation of when you've got to go, you've just got to go. I like to ask FA's to use a little discretion when letting someone use the lav while taxiing. Simply call the flight deck and we will stop, or we will wait to move again. I'd rather that, then have a big mess to clean up in the end. Most FA's are really good and will use their best judgement, but I've known of a handful that wouldn't think twice about calling us up and saying we need to have someone arrested because they got up to use the lav. Really puts us in a bad spot then. We want to back up our crewmembers but we also owe it to our customers not to have someone be kicked off for something they really couldn't help.

Great post Saxman. I've flown with far too many FAs that get their rocks off abusing their perception of authority. Based on my company's official response to the incident I'm guessing we screwed the pooch here.
