Hey guys,

I have atlas's posted minimum qualifications and bearly more.

2200 Total Time and about 700 Turbine. All the turbine time is EMB-145 SIC.

I have no degree, and only 1 year expirence at a 121 carrier flying the EMB-145.... as far away from heavy's as possible in a jet I think lol.


Anyway, do I actually have a shot or is there a higher expirence bracket out there thats more their target?

I hear they hire regional FO's and are losing captains to domestic legacy carriers due to familys, schedules, pay, and quality of life. Is that true?

Anyone have some links to sample resumes/templates I can base my resume off of? My current 121 resume format sucks in my opinion and i'd like to work up a shiny new one.

I can't speak for Atlas specifically, as I don't work there, but in general, this will ALWAYS hold you back, especially if your competitors have one. I know you specifically mentioned Atlas, but the legacy carriers, to include SWA, won't even look at you without one. Combined with your relative lack of experience, you are not competitive.

Yes, Atlas will hire SIC-only pilots, but the ones I know that got hired all had degrees. I don't know if that's a cardinal rule with them, but if I were you, I'd get to solving that problem ASAP.

I get your point but then why post 2000tt and 500 turbine as the minimums if you have no intention of going for that?

Anyone new hired or interviewed there recently, what is the realistic average experience bracket for new hires?

Honestly they do hire guys with those kinds of times. But they are generally from the military from what I have seen.

I won't say you have no chance, but you will need good recommendations and a trip to job fair most likely.

I interviewed with SWA back in 06 with no degree and I still don't have one. Unless that has changed I don't think they care. And I don't think Atlas has an issue of not having one either.

Yep, working on the degree but current pay/dept/cost of living is really hampering progress. Still, im chipping away at it a few classes at a time. I wont be without one forever and I know real solid career progress is impossible without one, but that wont stop me from trying to improve my lot in the interirm.

Atlas doesn't expressly say they require one and its a nitch place... the lifestyle isnt for everyone I wonder when/if they are gonna be feeling the pilot shortage. Before legacy does I would imagine.

Im sure im not competitive now, but my experience goes up while their bracket comes down. So, the idea is to estimate a point in time where those two values will come together.

I run into a guy on the commute that said hed give me a recommend, but he said hr doesn't pay attention to them much but it would help alot 'after' I scored an interview.

Job fair! Awesome idea, where is a good place to hear about upcoming job fairs?

Go to Hiring forum, read the Atlas Air Hiring thread there, or "search" that thread for job fair, or OBAP, or WIA, and perhaps also look at the index that has been created and posted multiple times within that thread (or "search" for it, or go to post #6527), or use this link:

What is atlas really looking for?
Would it be worth moving from a regional jet to an Atlas heavy? Would that accelerate getting a job with a legacy even though all my time (mil heavy & regional CRJ) is SIC? I understand the pay is obviously better, but the schedule will be brutal! Would it be worth it to be away from the family?
