Saw the Dermatologist for an odd spot on my face. She said it could possibly be excema. Gave me a cream to use for a few weeks with no change. On follow up visit she shot the spot with liquid nitrogen in an attempt to freeze it off. Waited 2 weeks and still no change. Today they took a biopsy of the spot and now we have to wait for results. She said it could possibly be a pre cancerous spot or a type of carcinoma. Depending on what the biopsy results show she mentioned treatment with a chemotherapy cream. Just wondering if anyone here has had to use this before & what it was like? I just renewed my medical, hoping this isn't going to be a problem.

I have a constant battle, I use Carac. The down side is you look like a 20 year drunk. It is best used around Halloween. If you can get by the redness, (death of pre cancerous cells) it is great stuff. It is never too early to fight that crud. Yeh, I don't think "Ugly" is a Fed condition.... You may have a squamous or basal cell condition if you do, Mohs surgery may be offered. No big deal, in office. However that may slow you down some, due to bandages. Disclaimer: I am not a Doctor nor play one on TV, just been there to d**n much. Several years ago I used Carac to treat some actinic keratosis on my face and scalp and dutifully reported it on my next physical under visits to a medical professional. A few months later I received a letter from the FAA saying that they had considered my "case" (didn't know I had a case or that they were considering anything) and decided that I could have a class 1 physical (?!) but that I was reminded to abide by rule # something or other and not fly any time I had any new symptoms of actinic keratosis, my symptoms worsened, or I was being treated. So, with a letter like that from the FAA in my possesion, and Carac being the only treatment I had reported and continue to use, I don't fly while using it. It seemed silly so I looked up possible side effects and in addition to the obvious cosmetic issues they include eyes stinging, sleeplessness, and irritability. Not a good thing in the cockpit.

there are ame guidelines for skin cancers & you are fine. report at your usual exam times ... and do not fly if any condition or its treatment makes you less than 100%. ps there are new and better creams than carac and new and better procedures (lasers) than liquid N2

I guess 5FU and Aldera are out now. Is Solaraze acceptable?
No problem here but skin issues have a way of surprising people.
