Yes, I'm aware that many here no longer hold this company in high regard, but I'll share anyways. Emirates careers website has removed all references to hours with regards to hiring FOs. They now say that one only needs an ATPL and ICAO level 4 English to apply.

I just got a thanks but no thanks e-mail from them citing the same 2000 hour multi crew jet minimum even though their website says ICAO ATPL. I'm a little short of the 2000 multi crew jet time but, I have international Boeing experience and thought that might be competitive. Maybe they're just testing the field of candidates to see what's out there now?

Emirates is notorious for having unpublished minimums. Back in 2011 I had an offer to come to the one-day assessment in ATL but it was rescinded once they saw my jet time was on a jet weighing less than 30 tons. I was on the CRJ-200 and that is under 30 tons, whereas the CRJ-7/900 is over 30 tons and they said that would be perfect to interview.

They may have removed hourly requirements from the website but it is extremely likely they still have their own unpublished hourly minimums.

They are slow to react to the obvious . Lower the requirements on the web site to see what they can get. Rumour is TP guys in the new year. Keep updating is all I can say for now .

Or…. As one American to you others, just bypass this airline altogether!!! It is simply horrible conditions with no recourse if you feel you've been wronged. I have 96 hours this month…. flying all over the world, thru more time zones than I can keep track of, day time/night time combinations. US carriers don't know the real meaning of fatigue…. They tell you 42 days entitlement for leave each year? Nope, they'll only give you 30 and tell you the law only requires them to give 30. Some of us have not had leave in over 7 or 8 months…. with 95 hours month after month after month!!!! It's just unsustainable.

Guys.. just take my advice and stay away. Even you RJ guys, after a year of doing all night turns, you'll understand. I know a US 330 captain in my neighborhood and he told me 2 weeks ago that he has gone 6 months straight with only 8 days off per month and only 2 layovers.

EK guys commonly do the equivalent of an SFO-BOS-SFO all night turn around with only 2 pilots…. leaving "SFO" at around 0300 arriving back in "SFO" around 1300! Trust me… this is real. These are scheduled every night!!

Feel free to PM me.

I know I am usually singing the "good" side of EK, but listen to Kap peeps. I recently flew with a brand new, just finished his upgrade to captain on a 380 flight. He would leave tomorrow if he had a job offer elsewhere. Keep in mind the 380 is the "good schedule" fleet.
Until there is a substantial pay raise AND improvements in QOL, this place is gonna struggle for pilots.
just some food for thought.

Next time you're in the US on an overnight, just stay.

I did see on the website and on this forum, that they have removed the hour requirement and even the aircraft type. I know they required jet time. I only have turboprop time on the Saab 340 and Dash 8 but based on their website, they have not specified jet time so im assuming as long as one has a ATPL. One qualifies to apply.?

4000 total with md80, medium jet and large turbo prob time. Got a tbnt due to low total time and low efis time. Obviously they are finding lateral movers, good luck you just burned this guy from applying again.

Grump…

Already done it. I've resigned! Moving on to another FAR better expat airline in Europe as a 777 captain!! Down to my last month and a half and it's a TON of bricks of the proverbial shoulders.
