SO does anybody else feel like CONTINENTAL is going to do to EXPRESSJET what DELTA did/is doing to COMAIR?, any thoughts, or has this industry just made me paranoid and slightly crazy

I try not to reply to your posts, but this is too far flung. CAL can't sue XJT in court to make the pilots fly.

If the pilots strike at XJT, CAL can void your contract. But they can't impose concessions on you. Only your company can do that (ExpressJet Inc.).

So no, CAL won't do to XJT what DAL is doing to Comair. CAL doesn't own ExpressJet.

Well I understand that, I meant taking as much flying away as possible, and giving it away to other regionals, FOSTER, why the anger & Hatred toward me, its an online forum, lifes to short to get all worked up on here hehe

Sure, if others can do it cheaper with the same ballpark numbers. Maybe CAL doesn't think it's worth it to pay an extra $100+ million a year for an extra .01% completion factor. Maybe Chautauqua had a better value?

We're having an intelligent discussion here, don't ruin it.

haha I wont, but from what I am hearing, CHQ wasnt going to be cheaper, and the 15 a/c with COLGAN, well sure the Q400's are great but It wasnt more than a year ago when CAL was pretty unhappy with Colgans performance out of IAH, and throw a new a/c type, Colgans MX dept I am not so sure that will end up CHEAPER either, especially if they have to rebook people etc. DISCLAIMER: Q400 from what I hear tend to break, (Props have more moving parts) and Colgan has run their operation with the mentality that DMI's and MELS' will do until it breaks and then some poor mechanics have to fly out on an empty airplance to fix the darn thing, while CREW Scheduling scrambles to find cres, a/c etc.....I dunno just doesnt make sense to me, but then agian not much does

All startups have hiccups. Plus, if they were that unhappy with their current performance why is the company awarding more growth to them? CAL isn't stupid, they've done a lot of things right in the past decade.

I agree, just makes me wonder why our flying is getting taken away, I mean Diversify yes, but our product has always been a good one, meanwhile Colgans has been less than stellar, I dunno just makes me wonder ya know?

The flying was given to Chautauqua, not Colgan, according to the press releases. And, like I said earlier, maybe they provided a better value to CAL. Having a good product doesn't mean squat if it doesn't have a good value.

Maybe CAL gave XJT a chance to bid on the Q400 RFP and they turned it down? Maybe their costs were much higher than the other bidders. Nobody knows except CAL.

If such things make you paranoid and slightly crazy, given the nature of this industry, especially at the regionals, you're due for the loony bin before you get to the majors. Who knows what's going to happen? All you can do is make the best decision given what little information you have now...don't worry about what you can't prevent, let alone predict.
