Quote: , we have had people interview recently who have had their application from 2012 or 2013 put in front of them with a red pen and asked to make any corrections. (some were escorted out before the interview even started for too many corrections)
If I had been given a four year old application and been asked to make corrections, I probably would have said something rude. No, I wouldn't have. But I certainly would have pointed out their mistake, and handed them my current application which I brought with me. (The one I used as a guide to update the application they had on hand.)

What nonsense.

My application was printed the day they selected me from the pool. All the changes I made after that were not present. There were quite a few. I was not escorted from the building, despite taking quite some time to update all the information.

You are not invited to interview unless you're qualified, on the day they select your application, with the information listed on your application. Put your best foot forward. Highlight all your best features. You don't have to talk about your warts, unless they ask. And if they do, be honest. And never mention it ever again. Do not lie. Not ever. Goes without saying. Except for some people, I guess it needs to be said. #SMH

Quote: No disagreement from me. I have flown with quite a few who are itching to get into TK, the flight office, or work on special projects to spring board their intentions at United. So many in fact that it struck me as rather odd. I'm not saying they aren't bad pilots and I've thoroughly enjoyed working with all the new hires.

My question is how many interviews are we forgoing of those who are extremely good aviators but chose the life of a line pilot vs otherwise? United wants perspective when they hire Military vs civilian, male vs female, etc... right? All I'm saying is the guy who flies the line month in month out and puts food on the table for his family is a go getter in my book. They provide perspective as well.

Amen. I feels like the good husband and father get hosed for interviews.

What Blue was saying sounds like BS to me. I am sure he heard that lame excuse from the rejected ones but the ONLY reason they ask you to update on the day of the interview is for record keeping ONLY. There are no gotchya during the interview phase.

They need to see if the person on paper matches the person in the interview.

If the applicant's answers sound canned or have a sub-optimal personality or attitude THAT is the things that will get you "escorted" off the property - lol.

Can someone shed light on whether calls for the interview and the interviews themselves will continue, uninterrupted, throughout the summer or is there a moratorium on both until September? Thanks.

Might be the case. Seems strange that none of the Legacies, UPS or FedEx will be at the career fair at OshKosh. Alaska is the only one. It's the biggest aviation event in the U.S. that attracts people of all ages interested in aviation. Seems like a better way to get the word out to young people that working for the airlines is once again a viable career. They only seem to go to OBAP and WAI conferences.

This question comes up every year - and the answer is grey at best and changes weekly and sometimes daily

Basically if UAL can get "away" with shutting down new hire training during the summer and make the instructors go fly the line for the summer they will. But the need has been so great that they had to run classes through the summer last year.

They don't like having a huge "pool" of interviewed pilots waiting for class so that is the reasoning behind the slowdown of interviews.

Hopefully it sheds a "little" light on what is going on and plans change daily

All you can do is update your app and wait for the call - I know it's not easy. Good Luck

Cage Marshall vs Emerald Coast

Thoughts on which company is best suited for United prep? I've been told Cage is more geared towards United, but Emerald has tapped CV so just curious what some think. Experience with either?
