Anyone figured out how to connect to the new AOC network? I guess we need to download Oddessy Client Manager, but I haven't figured out how and the FAQs they posted are confusing at best. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

There is a section on the FedEx Intranet for you to request access. Your ACP has to approve it, and you then gain accesss from the LAN to download the Odyssey client.

So, your ACP/FOS should be able to steer you in the right direction.

Whether you should or not, is a different question.

You'll need to be on the INTRAnet to go through the hoops.

From the Pilot Homepage (FedEx | Flight Operations) you should look on the left margin of the page for the link to Software and Technology. Then you'll click on the link for Wireless Network Access.

The next step requires that you be conneted to the FedEx Intranet. You can use a PC in the AOC or at a ramp office. Click on the link at the bottom of the page, Information Security Wireless LAN website. If you follow the steps carefully, it should lead you through the process. Once you complete the official request for Wireless LAN access, you'll have to wait for your ACP to approve your request.

Once you've been approved, you'll need to hook your laptop to the FedEx INTRAnet (with a cable) in order to download the appropriate software. Again, if you follow the instructions, it should be no problem.

It is easy to do. Works great in the sleep rooms and the 200 gates. It does load a couple of programs that I had to deactivate to connect to my home network.

Works on the STN and ANC gates as well.

But you can't connect to the internet, right? I haven't been able to connect wirelessly to the internet, just the intranet. Ethernet hook ups still work for internet connections.

In order to connect to the internet, you just need to change the Proxy settings.

To get to your proxy settings in IE, do the following:

Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > Proxy Server

Proxy: west.proxy.fedex.com

Port: 3128

Use the same proxy for http, https, and web.

(All the guys in the FedEx Private Crewroom over at the other place already know this. )

What would you be doing with a laptop in the sleep room?

Unfortunately, Skype, and many other programs will NOT work behind the company's firewalls!
