I sold my stainless handle heavy Purdy Neat after 10 years for $150. Bought the plastic framed one and its 5 years now. The balance and roll better than anything. There are some things I'd change about them but not deal breakers for me. I think the plastic frame one for $199 is a good value. I wish they would beef up the stitching. That's really my only gripe.

I bought my wife a Briggs and Riley and they are nicer, but don't hold as much and don't balance as well. They are $300 too.

Quote: Sorry, the value is not there. I, too, have spent the cash on purty neat and strong bags over the years. Learn from the old guy.
No argument here...I had (and still have) my Purdy international bag. It's in original and well beat up condition after 15 years...it just didn't fit. As a newhire civilian that took a huge pay cut at SWA I didn't want to spend the coin for the LW bag.

I find the Strong bag to be a good deal, and would never go to a Travel Pro bag.

I bought an original PNT bag in 1995 from the outer marker in STL. It's been in nearly constant use since, 21 years. It looks like hell but it's still rolling along. Had to replace the handle, zippers and wheels 2-3 times. I wish the Luggage Pro bags were made as well as the original.

LW makes a 737 specific bag. Is that the only one that fits or will my normal stealth fit?

I bought this and it fits everywhere - even short way in the -300 bin. Fantastic bag with a lifetime warranty. Airline peeps get 20% off.

Of course, some of you pack like you're going on safari, so this may not work.

I'm assuming we are discussing fitting in the storage area on the flight deck. The problem with some LW bags is the side storage compartments--they will get ripped up. Hence, the sleek sides on the 737 bag.

I know some guys just remove the side compartments by using a razor blade on the stitches.

Yup, side pockets will rip. Even empty ones.

Fly an Airbus and you can fit any bag you want up front...

I have the 737 stealth. I like it, it's a little more narrow than the regular stealth, so it fits fairly well (still tight with really full side pockets) into the 737 cockpit bag compartment. However, since the bag is more narrow, they put the main zipper seam around the very edge of the bag. Unlike the regular stealth (where the zipper seam is indented on top of the bag somewhat), the zipper seams will take a beating if it gets thrown around and lands on the corners. I've had the zipper replaced once (for free) under warranty. I commuted on a regional for years so the gate checking took its toll. I commute on mostly mainline carriers and fly the 'bus now, so my bag looks almost brand new despite being 5+ years old (keep in mind I had the zipper replaced and some pocket stitch work redone under warranty after about 2 years of regional commuting).
