Being that your at UPS what do you know of the level of suffering and abuse at Atlas, Southern, Kalitta, Omni, and all the other ACMI's out there?

Were not expecting the lofty pay, or work conditions that you have at Brown, but we deserve a lot more than what we are getting currently for all the hard work, dedication and concessions that we have made.

K4 should know the details in 5-7 days or so.... Company and the EXCO/NC meeting this week M, T and W.... to flesh out the remaining language thats been agreed to in the AIP. The time line is early NOV for a TA in hand to the pilots....some roadshows/webinars with concurrent voting thru late NOV and IF ratified a 1 DEC DOS with phase in of all sections asap. The end game is near.

As I wrote, after reading itsjustajob's long analysis on Atlas I joked that Atlas is really in the process of being bought itself thereby putting his whole theory in question. No big f'in deal; nobody being disparaged except those you are imagining in your own head.

The remote chance of an unanticipated transaction like a UPS purchase of Atlas is one reason that there's a 180-day termination-for-convenience provision in the Amazon CMI contract. It would also be typical to have a provision that gives Amazon significant rights in the event of a change of control of Atlas. It would be customary for DHL and other significant CMI customers have similar provisions in their contracts.

Amazon has a lot of options, and a lot of leverage, in the unlikely event that such a transaction were to be proposed.

For what it's worth, I don't see how paying a premium over market value to buy a company that has significant value as an ongoing enterprise is a cost-efficient way of acquiring airframes (which is the rumoured reason for the transaction). It worked with Airtran because its stock price was floundering and Southwest not only got a pile of airframes in one shot but also the opportunity to eliminate a direct competitor and thus to raise prices. This isn't analogous, particularly because a large percentage of the AAWS airframes are on long-term dry leases to others or already owned by others and necessary for their own operations.

I'm on this board for my own personal edification. Occasionally I have something to contribute and I do so, but all in all, I try to avoid the *ick measuring contests. However, this comment, I just couldn't scroll by without finding out what empowers you to be so condescending. You do realize the majors are predominantly hiring regional FO's right? Young ones at that. That now famous 4 month captain at Delta is 28 years old......I'm not sure where you are getting at with the "those caliber of pilots" comment. Where do the right caliber of pilots get their experience from? Millitary? As far as I'm concerned the only thing separating civilian track pilots and their millitary counter parts is a career choice. Let's not pretend the millitary is full of "Mavericks" and "Icemans." Im puzzled by your level of condesention. FYI, it's not "those caliber," it's "that caliber." The million dollar question is, what caliber are you?
