At the beginning of august I earned my CFI, CFII, and MEI. I'm now looking to put my ratings towards college credit to get a online bachelors degree in something in aviation while I'm instructing. (Probably take 1 or 2 classes a semester) Does anyone know how many credits will transfer and if you know of any good online schools. Or if you have any additional information it would be greatly appreciated. 😊

Use the search functions. There's several threads about getting online degrees.

Some will give you credit for your flying training.

I'd recommend six courses, 18 credits, minimum per year. If you bump that to 24 credits you can get a degree in five years. You'd probably have 4,000 - 5,000 TT and be approaching the sweet spot for getting an OTS slot. If you apply to an AA wholly owned you'll get the flow through opportunity. That's an airline job at AA about 8-9 yrs from now.

Stay focused and get your degree. Right now it's a requirement and it's a good back up, or a lead in to a masters, if you lose your medical.

A lot of people hate on riddle but it was the way to go for me personally. I had some prior college, CFIs and ATP when I transferred. I want to say I got roughly around 30-35 credits for ratings/work experience. It's more expensive than some other online aviation schools like Utah Valley. BUT riddle doesn't have the traditional 3 semester year-all classes are 9 weeks long and you can pretty much start a class any month you want so it's extremely flexible. I would generally take 2 classes at a time-which was a manageable workload (for me personally) depending on which classes you were in at the time. I would say a bigger workload is definitely possible, especially in the lower level classes-even if you're flying. As long as you use layover downtime wisely to get work done. I actually have my final presentation tom AM so once I find out if I graduate or not my opinion might change :P good luck to you whichever route you choose. I personally feel like Riddle is a great option if you want to get done quick-but you're going to pay extra for it. Congratulations, I just graduated in May. I took two classes at a time like you. My experience was positive. I had started management positions and the classes were very topical with my work.

Look into Thomas Edison State College. They have a BSAST Degree in Aviation Flight Technology. You can also CLEP out some classes there as well. Good Luck

I used Liberty University, it was an excellent experience. They give you 30 credits (one year) for your ratings.

Download the degree requirements from riddle. Do 60 credits at a community college. Then apply to riddle and transfer your credits and ratings in. Your degree says riddle and you only need 30 credits in residency to get it. I got mine in 2008 for a total of less than $12k.
