Quote: You must be a real joy to fly with. People who sound like you make this job miserable.
Why, because you made the smart a$$ comment about exposure outside the US? Yet you're the one who can't even get a basic IATA ID correct for one of the major airports of the world.

You sound like whiny little hands Donald!
Ha! Ah.. No. I replied to your comment on my phone and was not able to scroll up to reference your choice in airports. I'm well aware that HKG is not PVG. I flew in the region for several years and made a typo. You have issues. Get help.

Now I'm going to grow a beard just to annoy people like you with a superiority complex.

Nice try! You're the worst kind of pilot; the kind that can't admit when they make a mistake or are wrong. I guess it was so important that you responded on your phone without being able to read the entire message. How long did it take you to look up PVG. And of course that's not the only commercial airport in Shanghai )
[emoji849]Dang. Some of you people need help...

And while I haven't been to PVG, or lowered any runways in HKG, I've flown to every continent besides the ice shelf on the bottom of the world, and I'm a stud because I was even taxiing from the left seat with my bigly hands on the tiller. Big Jet VIP, with a beautiful, luscious beard.

And I yelled at my FO's for good order and discipline, and made sure the FA's all fit nicely into their size 4 dresses.

America!!!

Yeah.

Sheesh.

Beer anyone?

Folks in this thread have some serious emotional attachments to a clean shaven pilot. Trying to attribute any objective quality that a beard has which could affect professionalism is absurd. As to a passenger's discomfort with beards, speaking with confidence about a matter of personal preference for a very large and diverse group of people isn't that convincing of an argument. Actually, in many other industries we see that beards often are completely acceptable at the professional level.

I'd prefer to hear honesty, and have some of these guys just say "I don't like to see pilots with beards." Tolerance for facial hair has been cyclical for millennia, and as others have said, many foreign airlines employ very sharp-looking bearded pilots.

I just think facial hair is of trivial importance when assessing pride in one's appearance-- in any profession. The loss of perspective is analogous to the wrinkled untucked shirt slob preaching the professional merits of hat wearing.

But, if a company doesn't want bearded pilots then I'm glad they are free to set the standard. Should be the same for any garb/piercing etc...

Nah. Now see, here is how it all really goes here in APC land:

Someone makes a posting. Someone responds. Usually by the 4th posting (at most), name calling begins, personal degradation kicks in, politics is inevitably inserted by the usual APC cast of curmudgeons spreading their malarkey for both extreme sides of the political spectrum, and then off we go down the yellow brick road. Eventually someone with juice decides this isn’t fun anymore and then all of a sudden, the thread usually gets closed. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Do not forget the requisite line "You must be a joy to fly a 4 day with" when trying to get a point across.

You know me so well!

As for the rest of you, I'm going to check on my arsenal of disciplinary actions to see if any apply to you. I must first tear myself away from storm watching. It's crazy out here on the beach.
