Where have we gone?
I think this thread title needs to be changed to "Atlas Air Pilot Negotiations."
Atlas pilots need to leave this forum. Its very revealing that they continually feel the need to post here. “Atlas” is not the same as Atlas in my posts at least. “Atlas” is a person and we all know who that is and what function he is presently carrying out. Occam’s razor. Research it.

Its also interesting that no one bothers to comment about the Kalitta pilot’s quote I reposted yesterday or before. Its aptly representative of what we as Omni pilots are experiencing right now.

And Frank, much respect for having the nads to post your name. The sign of a real man! Well done sir.
There also seems to be a complete misunderstanding of what a lot of us folks at OAE are trying to say.

1) "Atlas" means DW.

2) Noone is anti-union they are anti-higher-ups meddling for their eventual benefit.

3) Noone wants to implement the company proposal. We want to see what the contract would look like with "plugging in" the current proposed offer. And being able to make a choice from that point.

4) The bullet points the company provided are the entire list (to the best of our knowledge) of the gains the NC has made. Due to the nature of our negotiation (as far as we know) not all sections of the co tract were opened. The ones that were are addressed in the bullet points and the rest would remain the same.

If the above is and/or holds true then I believe a significant or majority portion of the membership would be amenable to working under that framework provided strong language locks it in.

As said before the "non-answer answers" at the conference and the obvious meddling regarding duty days is not beneficial in the long run to a lot of us (to point: Atlas and Kalitta guys hit the road on day 1 (or earlier) and return home on the last day; meanwhile I worked all of 15 days on the road in November and December, though I was obligated to be on LCAL on many of the "home" days).

This entire process is supposed to be about finding a balance of rules and compensation that is commensurate with the current industry environment and acceptable to both parties. Not to serve as a jumping off point for another groups later negotiation.

Were it not for the fact that your negotiations directly affect our negotiations, AND that we are ready, willing, and able to honor an OMNI strike were you to be released for self help, Atlas pilots probably wouldn't have much more than a passing interest in the status of your contract.

I suppose that someday we may return to an era of solidarity and brotherhood within airline pilot unions, but it doesn't seem to be happening right now... Until then though, I guess we'll never see the big contractual gains that should be possible with the current state of the economy and the airline industry.

Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.

Quote: “Atlas”is clearly and unequivocally to blame. Anyone who doesn’t understand this doesn’t understand what that status of the Atlas negotiations is, who is present at the Omni negotiations, and who has the final say as to IF Omni pilots get to vote ON THEIR OWN agreement.

Enjoy the “Atlas” ride. We are being ripped off everyday.
I will ask again, who is present at Omni negotiations?

Because I am willing bet you don't have a clue, I know for a fact DW hasn't been at the last two meetings between the Omni and the union. Keep in mind DW a current full time LCA at Atlas.

AND the rest is irrelevant... you flat out say we're your pawns to be used to further your goals and not benefit from the fruits of our own labor. If you think that kind of rhetoric is "uniting" I think I know why our local is suffering from so much infighting. Flynn, Crippen, et. al. are going to enjoy this more than we are.
Rosebud, in reading your posts, it seems you and I are in substantial agreement regarding the state of union representation at OAI and 1224. That being said, you don't have to like my choice of media, my choice of metaphors, my opinions, or me.

Here is another metaphor you may not like:

In 1958 Walt Disney produced "White Wilderness," part of the studio's "True Life Adventure" series. "White Wilderness" featured a segment on lemmings, detailing their strange compulsion to commit mass suicide.

According to a 1983 investigation by Canadian Broadcasting Corporation producer Brian Vallee, the lemming scenes were faked. The lemmings supposedly committing mass suicide by leaping into the ocean were actually thrown off a cliff by the Disney film makers.

Aviator again you hit it perfect. Your earlier post has helped in contact being made with a Local that will get us away from the BS at the 1224 and move things along for the Pilot group at OMNI.

I just see things the way I see them. Agreement, or lack thereof, with the opinions of others is purely coincidental.
